All Keys Lost — Townsville
Every key gone, and the car isn't going anywhere. This is the job I get called about most, and it's the one the van is built for — a new key cut and coded from nothing, at the vehicle.
Why this job is different
A spare key is easy: the car already trusts one key, and a second gets copied from it. All keys lost means starting from zero. There's no working key to duplicate, no way to open the door the usual way, and nothing for the immobiliser to copy.
So the sequence is longer. The car has to be opened without damage, the lock or the vehicle's own data read to work out the correct blade pattern, a new blade cut to match, and then the immobiliser accessed directly to teach it a key it has never seen. That's why it costs more and takes longer than a spare — and why most places will tell you to tow it to a dealer.
What happens on the day
- 1
Call with the details
Make, model, year, rego, and exactly where the car is sitting. I'll tell you what's involved and what it costs before I set off.
- 2
Open and read
Non-destructive entry first — no drilling, no broken window, no damaged door frame. Then the key data comes off the vehicle.
- 3
Cut, code, drive
New blade cut, transponder programmed to your immobiliser, remote paired if the key has one. You drive away on it.
Proof of ownership is not optional
Before I cut a key to a car I've never seen, I need photo ID and something tying you to the vehicle — registration papers in your name, or equivalent. It's the same check that stops someone else doing this to your car in a shopping centre car park, so it applies to everyone, every time.
If the rego isn't in your name — a company vehicle, a family car, a recent private sale not yet transferred — call and say so up front. It's usually workable, it just needs sorting before I'm standing at the car.
Before you call
Will you damage the car getting into it?
No. I use professional non-destructive entry tools and picking techniques. No drilled locks, no broken glass, no damage to paint or door frames.
Is this cheaper than the dealership?
Generally yes, and the bigger saving is the tow. A dealer needs the car brought to them and usually orders the key in; I come to the car and make the key there.
What if the car is somewhere awkward?
Roadside, a beach car park, a work site, a locked yard — all fine, as long as I can physically reach the vehicle and you can meet me there with ID.
Need this sorted today?
Call or text with the details — vehicle make, model and rego, or the address if it's a property — and I'll tell you what's involved and what it costs.
