Locked Out of the House?
Door pulled shut behind you, keys on the kitchen bench. It happens constantly and it's a quick fix — I'll get you back inside without wrecking the lock on the way.
Getting in without breaking anything
There's a fast, destructive way to open a locked door and there's a proper way. Drilling the cylinder gets you inside in two minutes and leaves you buying a new lock on top of the callout.
The default here is non-destructive: picking or bypassing the lock so it still works normally afterwards and your existing keys still fit. Occasionally a lock is too worn, seized or already damaged for that, and in those cases I'll tell you before I start what the alternative costs.
What I'll need from you
Photo ID
A driver's licence is ideal.
Something linking you to the address
A lease, a rates notice, mail, anything reasonable. Same rule as vehicles, and it's there to protect you.
The full address
Including unit or lot number, and a note if the place is hard to find after dark.
While I'm there
If the lockout happened because a key snapped, a lock is sticking, or a door has dropped and stopped latching, that's worth sorting in the same visit rather than paying a second callout later. Same if you've just moved in and don't know who else holds a key — a rekey while I'm on site is cheap compared with bringing me back out.
Before you call
Do you come out after hours?
Yes, seven days. Late-night and after-hours callouts carry an additional fee on top of the standard price, and you'll be told the total before I start.
Can you get into a unit or a granny flat?
Yes, with the usual ID and proof you're entitled to be there. For strata and body corporate properties I may need the agent or committee to confirm.
What if I've locked a key inside a deadlocked door?
Still usually openable without damage. Mention it on the phone so I bring the right gear.
